Jakarta  (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono attended the inauguration of the second Sharia Economy Festival here Wednesday at the Plenary Hall, Jakarta Convention Centre, an official said.

The festival is part of an exhibition and seminar held by Bank Indonesia (central bank) and the Islamic Bank (IB) with the theme "Indonesia Can be More Prosperous".

The president was scheduled to deliver an inaugural speech and listen to central bank governor Boediono`s report on the development of the sharia financial system in Indonesia.

The president was also slated to witness the symbolic handover of People`s Entrepreneurship Credits (KUR) from Sharia Mandiri Bank worth Rp 326.436 million to 5,707 debitors as well as the signing of a cooperation contract between ten Sharia banks linked to IB Online and the Association of Regional Banks.

The ten sharia banks are Sharia Mandiri Bank, Muamalat Bank, Mega Sharia Bank, BRI Sharia Bank, BN Bank, Permata Bank, BTN Bank, Danamon Bank, BPRS Harta Insan Karima, and BPRS Assalam.  (*)
