Sri Lankan Airlines catering unit posts US$10.5 mln in profits
Colombo (ANTARA News/Asia Pulse) - The catering unit of state-run Sri Lankan Airlines said it was expecting an upturn with more visitors coming to the island after a war with a 1.26 billion rupee (US$10.5 million) net profit already under its belt in the year to March 2009.
The profit was up 30 percent from a year earlier. "The dawn of peace has broughtwith it exciting possibilities for growth in the country's tourism industry," SriLankan Catering chief executive Sarath Fernando said in a statement.
The company said it is chasing new customers, and is recapturing the business of airlines that suspended operations earlier. It is also preparing to diversify its range of products to new markets outside the airline industry.
