PD, PKS preserve coalition

Bandung, W Java (ANTARA News) - The talks between the Democratic Party and the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) led to positive direction towards the two parties to remain in coalition.

The Democratic Party`s general chairman, Hadi Utomo, said after preparing the declaration of the Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono-Boediono ticket for the presidential race on July 8 on Friday evening that the relations between the two parties remained good and the parties were still in coalition.

"The two parties have agreed to coalesce and agreed for the SBY (Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono)-Boediono ticket," he said.

He said the Democratic Party and PKS would coalesce first and later discuss technical things and there had been an agreement since the beginning for communications.

Several hours before the Democratic Party declared its presidential and vice presidential candidates that evening Yudhoyono met with PKS Advisory Council chairman Hilmi Aminuddin and other PKS leaders.

The declaration of the Democratic Party`s ticket at around 7.30 was also attended by leaders from other parties including PKS president Tifatul Sembiring. (*)
