Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The prosecution in the court trials of Antasari Azhar, former chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), in the murder case of Nasruddin Zulkarnaen, demanded a death penalty for him.

"Hereby we declare the defendant legally and convincingly persuading to commit a premeditated murder," Public Prosecutor Cyrus Sinaga said at the South Jakarta District Court, here on Tuesday in the court trials of Antasar Azhar.

The public prosecutor said an aggravating factor of the defendant was he was troublesome and noisy during the trials.

"The defendant has committed an organized and premeditated murder but he has tried to make the public believed that there was a scenario," Sinaga said.

What the defendant had done, was damaging the image of the law enforcers, and the victim was an official of a state owned company (BUMN), he said.

"The defendant has taken away someone who is loved by his family," he added.
The court trial was adjourned until Thursday (28/1) to listen the plea of Antasari Azhar and his lawyer team, according to Chief Judge Harry Swantoro.

Antasari Azhar, Williardy Wizar, former South Jakarta Police Resort, Sigid Haryo Wibisono and Jerry Hermawan Lo, are charged in the murder case of Nasrudin Zulkarnaen.

However, the motive for the murder is still unclear, but sources close to the victim`s family say it is linked to an affair with a woman, who is the third wife of Nasarudin.
But Antasari had denied all charges and said Nasaruddin was a personal friend, who had given him vital confidential information on corruption in the RNI group.

Williardy Wizar, who has been charged with recruiting the executors of the murder, has also be demanded a death penalty in the earlier court trials today. (*)
