Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Antasari Azhar`s lawyer, M Assegaf, accused the prosecutors of merely copying the dossiers of the police and ignoring the facts found during the session when submitting their demand on Tuesday.

"During the court sessions witnesses Sigid Haryo Wibisono and Rhani Juliani (wife of Nasruddin Zulkarnaen) had never said that Antasari had ordered the killing of Nasruddin," he said after the prosecutors` demand was read out at the South Jakarta district court.

The prosecutors on Tuesday demanded a death penalty for Antasari who is the former Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) chief, in connection with his alleged involvement in the murder of company director Nasruddin.

Assegaf said the prosecutors` demand was against the facts found during the court sessions as Sigid Haryo Wibisono, police senior commissioner Wiliardi Wizard and Herry Hermawan Lo had never mentioned orders to kill or destroy Nasruddin Zulkarnaen.

Williardi who is also former South Jakarta resort police chief had even said that the police had framed Antasari Azhar by asking him to make his dossier similar to that of Sigid Haryo Wibisono.

He said an information technology expert from state Bandung Institute of Technology in his testimony had also confirmed that Antasari had never sent a threat through a text message to Nasruddin.

A gun expert meanwhile also testified that the bullet found to be used for shooting the victim did not match with the revolver the police used as an evidence and believed as a sharpshooter had been involved.

Assegaf said the prosecutors also could not show other evidence such as the clothes of the victims which were an important element in connection with the case and also would not hand over the victim`s cellular phone to the expert for studying.

He said the prosecutors` demand reflected an ambition to punish the defendant.

Antasari earlier said the prosecutors were ambitious to punish him to death. "Everyone observed the sessions. We could all see the facts revealed during the court sessions," he said.

Antasari said he would let the public to judge upon the facts revealed during the sessions. "We can only make efforts," he said.(*)
