Jakarta (ANTARA News) - An earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale rocked Tasikmalaya area in West Java at 7.25 a.m on Sunday.
Data obtained from the website of Jakarta`s Meteorology, Geophysics and Climatology Agency (BMKG) on Sunday showed that the epicenter of the earthquake was located at 8.02 degrees southern latitude and 107.91 degrees eastern longitude, about 84 km northwest of Tasikmalaya, or about 238 km southeast of Jakarta at a depth of 14 km.
The trembler of the quake, which, according to the BMKG had no potential to create tsunami, was also felt in Pangandaran at IV Modified Mercalli Intensity (MMI), Cianjur at III MMI, Banddung at III-IV MMI and Ciamis at IV MMI.(*)
