Bandarlampung (ANTARA News) - A moderate earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale jolted Nabire, Papua province, at 6.33 pm Western Indonesia Time (WIB) on Thursday.
The epicenter of the earthquake lies 2.94 degrees southern latitude and 136.16 degrees eastern longitude, about 90 km northeast of Nabire, Papua.
The earthquake which had no potential to trigger a tsunami was 196 km southeast of Biak (Papua), 204 km northwest of Keawkwa (Papua) and 280 km northeast of Kaimana (West Papua).
At 12.27 WIB, an earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale also shook Aceh on the same day. Its epicenter lies 55 km southeast of Sigli, at 4.89 degrees northern latitude and -96.0 degrees eastern longitude at a depth of 10 km.(*)
