"I came here for an examination and was questioned as a witness," the former minister said after the questioning at the KPK building.
She was questioned over an alleged case of corruption in the procurement of medical equipment for the handling of bird flu in 2006.
The procurement project belonged to the office of the Coordinating Minister for People`s Welfare (Menkokesra). It was not the project of the Health Ministry, she said.
Secretary to the coordinating minister for the people`s welfare, Soetedjo Juwono, had been named a suspect in the case.
The case began with a plan to purchase bird flu vaccines. But in its realization, the project was changed into medical equipment procurement, worth Rp98.6 billion.
It was believed that the state had suffered a loss of Rp32.6 billion in the case.(*)
