Jakarta (ANTARA News) - State oil and gas company PT Pertamina plans to become a non-listed public company early next year after the auditing of its financial reports is completed, state enteprises minister Sofyan Djalil said here on Monday.

"The audit of financial reports from 2003-2005 will be finished today (Monday, Oct 19, 2009)," he said.

He said Pertamina would become a public company listed in the Financial Insitution-Capital Market Supervisory Agency (Bapepam-LK) but its shares were not sold at the stock exchange.

Being a public company "people could control the company openly while Pertamina could improve its corporate governance," he said.

Pertamina`s president director, Karen Agustiawan, said after being a non-listed public company for three years the company would later go public.

She said the audit`s results would be measured according to the existing accountancy standards in the country.

Its financial report in 2003 was audited by the Governement`s Development Control Agency (BPKP) and reported again to the Ernst & Young in 2004 and audited again by Ernst & Young in 2005.

Pertamina had appointed PT Mandiri Sekuritas and Melidarsa as its financial advisors, she said.

To realize the plan the government would soon issue a government regulation on it, she added.

The secretary of the state enteprises minister`s office, Said Didu, meanwhile said earlier that the draft government regulation had been submitted to the state secretariate.

"Right now however the regulation has not been issued. Its discussion however is the domain of Bapepam-LK," he said.(*)
