Pandeglang (ANTARA News) - A total of 278 buildings were damaged by the tectonic earthquake measuring at 6.4 on the Richter scale which hit Pandeglang regency on Friday (Oct 16) with its epicenter 42 kilometers northwest of Ujungkulon, Banten.
"The quake did not leave fatalities, and only one person sustained light injuries," Pandeglang police chief Ajunct Senior Commissioner Aminudin said on Sunday.
Aminudin said the damaged structures included houses, a police station, market, subdistrict office, schools, mosques, and smaller houses of prayer.
Most of the damaged buildings are located in the subdistricts of Sumur, Cigeulis, Cibaliung, Cikeusik and Patia. The structures are not far away from the quake`s epicenter in Ujungkulon.
The quake has caused minor injuries to only one resident of Cikeusik, Suradi (50).
In the meantime, Head of Pandeglang Regency Social and Manpower Affairs Sercice Anwar Fauzan said he and his subordinates had sent relief aid to the Ujungkulon quake victims. (*)
