London (ANTARA News) - Indonesia condemns Israel`s attitude in continuing its policies in East Jerusalem, especially the forced evictions, demolition of homes and expansion of settlements, a spokesman said.
Indonesia`s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, Dian Triansyah Djani, made the statement when speaking at the Human Rights Council`s Twelfth Special Session on the human rights situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory and East Jerusalem in Geneva on Thursday.
Indonesia was also deeply concerned by the ongoing excavation work and activities beneath and around the Al Aqsa Mosque, the ambassador said.
Indonesia called on all Council members to engage positively and constructively in producing a draft resolution to work and aim for a consensual text.
Indonesia remained profoundly distressed by the depth of the human rights and humanitarian crisis that continued to permeate the situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
"Action must be taken immediately, particularly bringing to justice those accused of having violated international human rights law and international humanitarian law," Djani said.
Indonesia highly valued the comprehensive and credible Goldstone report. It presented an authoritative and accurate picture of what had happened on the ground. It was high time that the Council discussed the substance of the report and its recommendations and decided on further steps to be taken, according to Djani.
The Human Rights Council`s Special Session was scheduled to continue its discussions on Friday and decide a draft resolution concerning the human rights situation in occupied Palestine and East Jerusalem, Goldstone Report, and a Human Rights High Commissioner report on human rights violations committed by Israel, according to Kamapradipta Isnomo, First Secretary of the Indonesian Permanent Representative Office in Geneva in a press statement received by ANTARA News correspondent in London.
